Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I spent my formative years scampering around theaters along the coast of Lake Michigan. As the child of two theater artists, I was conferred a hereditary impulse to make plays. After some time spent as my parents’ theatermaking sidekick, I began to pursue opportunities independent of my family, training and performing with the Milwaukee Repertory Theater and First Stage Children’s Theater.
Following eight (8) rounds of A Christmas Carol and a slew of TYA musicals along the Milwaukee Riverwalk, I continued my love affair with the theater at the University of Minnesota / Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program — a space where I was able to continue to learn and grow in the midst of professional theater artists (one of the things I loved the most about my upbringing in Milwaukee).
In college, I was able to explore the Western classical canon deeply and playfully, fostering a deep passion for reimagining, reinventing, and recontextualizing the stories that have become foundational (and often violent) to the American Theater. I also had multiple opportunities to explore the new play process as both an actor and playwright. I am particularly interested in developing stories that highlight queer, neurodivergent voices and that radically reimagine the function and style of theatrical work in the 21st-century.
As I move into my career post-education, I am excited to work on plays with rich, dynamic text, collaborate with artists who are interested in creating a more utopic theater (onstage and off), and craft work that shifts and expands the cultural zeitgeist to a more diverse and dynamic place.
When I am not deep in a theatrical project, I can be found dancing along the shores of Lake Michigan, taking in the expansive and tempestuous beauty of the natural world, sipping on an americano from the nearest coffee shop, or rolling around on the floor with my two cats, Zev and Maizie.
Mostly, though, I’m just trying to slow down and “keep my mind on what matters, which is my work, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.” (thank you, Mary Oliver.)
